Dental Surgeries

The Croft Dental Practice, Sudbury, Suffolk

North House, The Croft, Sudbury CO10 1HW, UK – 01787 372605

Mr Clift is the best dentist Iv ever had He tells you what he’s doing and makes sure you’re comfortable

After a very bad experience with another dental practice quite a few years ago I avoided regular check ups and treatment. Eventually I realised that I had to see a Dentist as I had two very painful teeth. I made an appointment with this practice and was treated by (Miranda ?) James. She found that I needed one large filling, one small one and one extraction. The large filling was done on the first appointment and the smaller one plus the extraction a week later. So, what were my impressions ? Firstly, the staff were courteous, pleasant and helpful. Ms James and her dental nurse were superb, very pleasant with a nice sense of humour. The treatment ? Fantastic, I can say, in all honesty, that I never felt a thing. If you need a Dentist, even if you are one of those folks who are wary of them, this is the place to go. Well done to all at the Croft. BTW, I was an NHS patient.

Damira Dental Studios

Best Dentist Practice Ever! Been going here since I moved here in 2002 and always welcomed with a smile. Went this morning in pain with a toothache , surprise surprise to be met with sympathy and laughs from the 3 staff at reception, Kerry, Tina and Mandy. Thank you girls you made the appointment easier to cope with! They are always happy and wanting to help you and ensure you get to see a dentist as soon as you can. I highly recommend coming here if in need of a dentist. Will miss Dr Bradbury and Elaine but know they have left me in good care with the rest of the team.

Have been treated by Alice "Dentist" and Gabby "Dental nurse" this year after moving to the area. Previously I have always been very nervous when visiting Dental surgeries with quite a lot of bad experiences from my youth in which my dentist was "struck off" for bad practice resulting in my mouth full of fillings. Well now in my later years I am so very pleased with my experiences at Damira especially with Alice who is replacing old fillings and capping problem areas. I cant praise the ladies enough for their NHS work which is as good and probably better than previous private work I have had carried out. Kindest regards Philip..

Been here today with my husband. Most impressed by the beautiful modern building. Just wished we lived close enough to always use the facilities, if needed. Everyone we saw from the receptionist to the Doctor were first class. Many thanks.

All very efficient here, though one of the nurses has trouble keeping up with the pace. Apart from this it's very clean.

Borley Church

Hall Road, Borley, Essex, CO107AE, Sudbury CO10 7AE, UK

The infamous church.. made famous by suspected ghostly activities... sadly locked when I got there but still a great place to visit.. if there is nothing else to see here.. the old rectory ( demolished years ago,now houses a new dwelling) is just over the road. So if this place piques your ghost hunting tendencies.. well worth it.. apparently on Halloween the lace is blocked off by police as people make a pest of themselves misbehaving.. shame.. it is still peoples homes after all..

Is the church still in operation. For regular Worship services? I heard it was locked down.

St Mary's Church

3 Church Field Rd, Sudbury CO10 0PY, UK – 07584 662155

This little church has seen great changes in its lifetime, perhaps none so dramatic as those of the last few decades. It sits across the fields from the beautiful, secluded red brick of Chilton Hall, a footpath to it running through woods and between fields for about a quarter of a mile. The irony is that the church's former loneliness was very nearly its demise, for the tiny parish could no longer support its church by the late 1970s, and it was drawn into the parish of Sudbury St Gregory, with St Mary being declared redundant and left to its fate. Fortunately however, this little church has some very energetic and enthusiastic friends who rolled up their sleeves and take good care of it, and in the 1980s it was vested in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust, who are now its custodians. The churchyard is a a narrow oasis, making the church appear larger than it actually is, and the two most striking features of the building are the tower and the large chapel on the north side of the chancel. The splendid red brick tower, one of the loveliest in Suffolk, was built on the eve of the Reformation. It has more in common with the red brick towers just over the border in Essex at Gestingthorpe and Wickham St Paul. The Victorians topped it with battlements and turrets, and it is a fine sight through the industrial units from the west. Contemporary with it is the large chantry chapel to the Crane family to the north of the chancel, but the body of the church isn't much older, being good Suffolk Perpendicular. What we have, then, is a building that was constructed pretty much in its entirety during the lifetimes of some of its parishioners. You can collect the key from a cottage beyond the Hall, and you let yourself into the Crane chantry chapel. This is a large open space, not much smaller than the nave of the church to the south-west of it. The earliest of the Cranes lie up one corner, beside the chancel. George Crane died in 1491, and looks rather lonely here, seeing out the centuries in alabaster. But there is a beautifully serene expression on his face, and it is hard to think that it was not intended. Above him to the south are his parents Robert and Anne Crane, also in alabaster of 1500. He is in armour without a helmet, she wears the collar of Ss. The little unicorn under his feet has mislaid his horn, and only the socket remains to tell us what he is. Mortlock notes that Robert and Anne appear among the donors in stained glass a few miles off at Long Melford. Cranes of a century or so later are on the west wall of the chapel, full of self-importance and with nothing like the humanity of their ancestors. In the presence of these grand figures, it would be possible to miss what is probably the greatest treasure of the church. In the east window of the chapel are two relatively complete figures in 15th Century stained glass, of St Apollonia holding her tooth in pincers and St Michael dispatching the devil. They are exquisite. You step through into the nave, which is simply furnished and full of light. There is no stained glass here. The low dado remains of the screen, and the little chancel cannot help but seem a little cluttered. Without the Crane chapel, this church would be by no means as significant. But it would still be very lovely. There is such a sense of love here, everything well-kept and well-cared for, everything in its right place. - Cutesy of Suffolk Churches Website - Simon Knott

Kind Cuisine

11 Friars St, Sudbury CO10 2AA, UK – 01787 376101

My mum and I love this restaurant. We visit as often as we can. I’m vegetarian but eat vegan more regularly after visiting Kind Cuisine. The food is absolutely delicious and cooked expertly by Mark.. The flavours, presentation and variation of the menu is sooo good. Above all this, you are make us feel welcome: Linda is always cheerful, helpful and makes each customer feel cherished; always topping up your teapot before we finish our cuppa, entertaining us with her stories. Linda has a fantastic sense of humour, I count her as one of my true friends. We need to support vegan sole traders like Mark and Linda. Wishing you both a joyful Christmas and good health and happiness in 2018! X

Very happy to find yet another outstanding Vegan 🌱 restaurant/cafe near-ish me. The owner was friendly and very helpful and the special she suggested was fantastic. The food was great and very well priced. Cannot complain about anything. I would certainly recommend Kind Cuisine whether you are Vegan, Vegetarian or you just fancy something different!
